Secretary of State for War and the Colonies

Das Secretary of State for War and the Colonies (Kriegs- und Kolonialminister) war ein Minister im britischen Kabinett, der mit höchster Entscheidungsbefugnis für die britische Armee und die britische Kolonien (außer für Indien) ausgestattet war. Diese Institution wurde 1801 gegründet und 1854 in zwei getrennte Ministerien aufgeteilt, in das Secretary of State for War (Kriegsminister) und in das Secretary of State for the Colonies (Kolonialminister), auch Colonial Office (Kolonialbüro) genannt.

Die Minister wurden unterstützt von dem Under-Secretary of State for War and the Colonies als Staatssekretär.
