John of Eltham (* 15. August 1316 in Eltham; † 13. September 1336 in Perth) war als Sohn des Königs Eduard II. und der Isabella von Frankreich ein Prinz der englischen Königsdynastie Plantagenet.

John wurde in Eltham in der Grafschaft Kent, gelegen im heutigen London Borough of Greenwich, geboren. 1326 wurde er zum Kommandanten der Stadt und des Towers von London bestellt, am 6. Oktober 1328 folgte die Ernennung zum Earl of Cornwall. Seinem älteren Bruder, König Eduard III., diente er als Heerführer im Krieg gegen die Schotten unter David II. Bruce und besetzte dabei 1335 das westliche Schottland. Nach der Erteilung einer päpstlichen Dispens (1334) wurde John mit der Prinzessin Maria verlobt, einer Tochter König Ferdinands IV. von Kastilien, allerdings starb er in der schottischen Stadt Perth, noch bevor die Ehe geschlossen werden konnte. Bestattet wurde er im Januar 1377 in der Westminster Abbey. Sein Titel erlosch mit seinem Tode.
Dem Bericht des schottischen Chronisten John Fordun (Chronica Gentis Scotorum), wonach John während eines Streits mit seinem Bruder von diesem ermordet worden sei, wird wenig Glaubwürdigkeit bescheinigt. Der englische Ritter Sir Thomas Gray schrieb in seiner Scalacronica lediglich von einem „schönen Tod“.[1]
