I Can’t Get Started

I Can’t Get Started (with You) ist ein populärer Song der in 1936 von Vernon Duke komponiert wurde, mit einem Text von Ira Gershwin. Der Song war ursprünglich im Broadway-Musical Ziegfeld Follies of 1936 verwendet. Im Musical sang Bob Hope den Song. Später ist er ein Jazzstandard geworden.[1] Bunny Berigans nahm in 1937 seine Version auf, und die Titel ist sein größte Hit geworden.[2] Berigan wurde für seine Version in 1975 mit einem postumen Grammy ausgezeichnet.[3]

Billie Holiday hat den Song mit Lester Young in 1938 aufgenommen.[4] In 1942 nahm Young eine weitere Version mit seinem Trio auf; außer Young hat der Trio aus Pianist Nat King Cole und Bassist Red Callender bestanden.[1]

Der Song wurde in den Filmen Save the Tiger (1973) und Chinatown (1974) gespielt.[5]
