Der Caterpillar D9 ist eine Planierraupe, auch Bulldozer, (eine Art Traktor, jedoch mit Kettenantrieb) der von der Firma Caterpillar Tractor Company entworfen und hergestellt wird.

Der D9 steht mit 354 kW (474 PS) am oberen Ende der Liste, ist jedoch nicht der schwerste in der Produktpalette. Diese beginnt bei dem D3 mit 57 kW (77 PS) und einem Gewicht von 8 Tonnen und endet mit dem D11, der 698 kW (935 PS) und ein Arbeitsgewicht von 104 Tonnen hat.

Nutzung

Der D9 wird meistens als Planierraupe ausgestattet, obwohl er auch in anderen Modellvarianten verfügbar ist, darunter auch eine schwer gepanzerten Version (D6R), um ein Schlachtfeld "zu säubern". Er wurde und wird in verschiedenen Defensivunternehmen der Israelischen Verteidigungskräfte zur Beseitigung von mutmaßlicher Infrastruktur verwendet und hat sich äußerst gut bewährt. Seine hohe Lebenserwartung, seine Zuverlässigkeit, die Größe und die niedrigen Betriebsmittelkosten haben den D9 zu einer der beliebtesten Planierraupen weltweit gemacht, zusammen mit dem Komatsu D275A, der den größten Konkurrenten des D9 darstellt.
