Foreign Policy

Foreign Policy ist ein anfangs vierteljährlich und derzeit alle zwei Monate erscheinendes Magazin in den USA und thematisiert die amerikanische Außenpolitik sowie internationale Politik, Beziehungen und Wirtschaft.

Es wurde 1970 von Samuel P. Huntington und Warren Demian Manshel gegründet. Neben Foreign Affairs zählt es zu den führenden und meinungsbildenden Magazinen in diesem Bereich. Veröffentlicht wird Foreign Policy von der Washington Post Company, die seit dem 29. September 2008[1] offiziell das Carnegie Endowment for International Peace als Herausgeber abgelöst hat. Die größte Außenwahrnehmung erfährt Foreign Policy vor allem durch den jährlich erstellten Globalisierungsindex und den Failed State Index. Die Auflage beträgt knapp 110.000 Exemplare. Ein bekannter Redakteur dieses Magazins ist Moisés Naím, derzeitige Chefredakteurin ist Susan Glasser.

Internetpräsenz

Anfang 2006 erweiterte das Magazin seine Webpräsenz mit dem Blog Foreign Policy Passport[2]. Seitdem sind mehrere Blogs hinzugekommen[3]. Zu den namhaftesten Autoren gehören der Militärreporter und Pulitzerpreisträger Tom Ricks, der Bestsellerautor Stephen Walt, der frühere hochrangige Pentagon-Mitarbeiter und Politikberater von George W. Bush, Dov Zakheim und Steve Biegun, der außenpolitische Berater von John McCain.
