FluidSynth ist ein Software-Sampler und in Ansätzen ein Softwaresynthesizer. Als Sampleformat verwendet er das SoundFont-Format. Das Programm beherrscht Echtzeitmodulationen über SoundFont 2.01-Modulatoren.

FluidSynth selbst ist ein kommandozeilenorientiertes Programm, hat also keine graphische Bedienoberfläche. Graphische Oberflächen werden von Drittanbietern angeboten, qsynth ist eine häufig verwendete. Des Weiteren dient FluidSynth auch dem VLC media player zur Wiedergabe von MIDI-Dateien.

Fluidsynth ist für diverse Plattformen erhältlich.
