Der Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport ist der internationale Flughafen von Amarillo, Texas, USA. Er liegt in der Amarillo metropolitan area 10 km östlich der Innenstadt.

Fluggesellschaften und Ziele

Amarillo wird nicht aus deutschsprachigen Ländern angeflogen, sondern mit American Airlines mehrmals täglich via Luftfahrt-Drehkreuz Dallas, mit Continental Airlines via Houston. Daneben bedient die Billigfluggesellschaft Southwest Airlines den Flughafen Dallas Love Field (Stand: November 2011).

Geschichte

1929 gründete Harold English den Flughafen als English Field. Transcontinental & Western Airlines, ein Vorgänger der TWA sowie Braniff International Airways flogen Amarillo an.

1942 entstand ein Militärflugplatz der United States Air Force. Flying Fortresses waren hier stationiert. 1968 wurde die Air Base geschlossen.

1971 entstand ein neuer Terminal, der 2007 erneuert wurde. 2003 wurde der Flughafen zu Ehren des Astronauten Oberst Rick Douglas Husband umbenannt.
