FactSet Research Systems ist ein US-amerikanisches Finanzdaten- und Softwareunternehmen mit Sitz in Norwalk (Connecticut), USA. Das Unternehmen stellt Informationen und Analysewerkzeuge für Analysten, Portfolio Manager und Investment Banker bereit.[1] Es konkurriert hauptsächlich mit Bloomberg L.P. und Thomson Reuters.

Geschichte

FactSet wurde 1978 von Howard Wille und Charles Snyder gegründet. Das Unternehmen konzentrierte sich zunächst auf die Integration von fremden Daten in Portfolio Management Systeme der Banken und lieferte einen Mehrwert durch intelligente Filterkriterien. Im Jahr 2008 kaufte FactSet die Datenbank WorldScope von Thomson Reuters, weil diese aufgrund kartellrechtlicher Bestimmungen im Rahmen der Übernahme von Reuters durch Thomson abgespalten werden musste. Seit 1996 ist das Unternehmen an der New York Stock Exchange notiert.

Dienstleistungen und Produkte

FactSet bietet seit 2009 eine neue Plattform, die Zugang zu mehr als 800 Datenbanken von unterschiedlichen Vendoren ermöglicht. Neben Analysen ermöglicht die Plattform Vergleiche, Filter, Portfolio-Optimierung und -Simulation. Darüber hinaus werden Nachrichten und Kurse dargestellt. Die Plattform ist ebenso über mobile Endgeräte verfügbar und in Microsoft Office integriert.

Sonstiges

FactSet wird von Forbes’ seit 13 Jahren zur Kategorie "200 Best Small Companies" gezählt. Im Jahr 2009 konnte FactSet 30 Plätze verbessern und belegte Platz 28.[2][3] Zusätzlich wurde FactSet von Forbes auf Platz 20 der "100 Best Mid-Cap Stocks in America" gewählt.[4] Im Jahr 2011 wurde FactSet vom Magazin Fortune zum dritten Mal in Folge zu den "100 Best Companies To Work For" gezählt.[5] Das Magazin BusinessWeek bezeichnet FactSet als einen der besten Arbeitgeber für Berufsanfänger.[6] Zum zweiten Mal in Folge wurde FactSet von Glassdoor.com's zu den "50 Best Places to Work" gezählt, im Jahr 2010 bereits auf Platz 17.[7]
