Campus Area Network

Ein City Area Network (CAN) ist Telekommunikationsnetz, das öffentliche Wege einschließt. Ein CAN hat eine Ausdehnung bis zu 5km. Es wird häufig verwendet um mehrere LANs zu vernetzen.

Ein typisches Beispiel ist die Vernetzung von Filialen, die sich über eine Stadt verteilen.

Das City Area Network ist auch unter dem Begriff Campus Area Network geläufig.
