American Society of Criminology

Die American Society of Criminology (ASC) ist eine internationale Organisation für Mitglieder, die sich in Lehre, Forschung und Praxis mit Kriminalität und ihrer Entstehung auseinandersetzt. Ihr Sitz ist in Berkeley, Kalifornien.

Sie wurde im Dezember 1941 gegründet. Mit etwa 3.500 Mitgliedern aus etwa 50 Ländern ist sie die weltweit größte Organisation im Bereich der Kriminologie.

Die ASC veröffentlicht zwei Zeitschriften und einen Newsletter.[1][2] Das Journal Criminology wird seit 1963 herausgegeben. Die Vereinigung veranstaltet eine Jahreshauptveranstaltung, zu der 2.800 Personen aus mehr als 30 Ländern anreisen. Diskutiert werden Referate von allgemeinem Interesse.[3]
