Adolph Rickenbacher

Adolph Rickenbacher (* 1. April 1887 in Basel; † März 1976) war ein schweizerisch-amerikanischer Erfinder. Zusammen mit dem Gitarristen George Beauchamp (1899–1941) entwickelte er 1931 einen elektromagnetischen Tonabnehmer und die erste elektrische Gitarre, die Frying Pan. 1931 gründeten Rickenbacher und Beauchamp das Unternehmen Electro String Instrument Corporation. 1953 verkaufte Adolph Rickenbacher mit 66 Jahren seine Firma,[1] die heute "Rickenbacker International Corporation" heißt.
