A Song of Joy

A Song Of Joy ist ein Lied des spanischen Sängers Miguel Rios aus dem Jahr 1970. Der Song stieg in Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz bis auf Platz 1[1][2] der Charts.

Miguel bekam das Angebot, zum 200. Geburtstag von Ludwig van Beethoven eine Pop-Version der 9. Sinfonie zu singen. Grundlage für die Sinfonie war die Ode an die Freude, ein Gedicht von Friedrich Schiller, das Beethoven 1824 vertont hatte.

1970 arrangierte der argentinische Orchesterchef Waldo de los Rios (* 7. September 1934 in Buenos Aires, † 28. März 1977 in Madrid) diese Ode im Stile von James Last neu. Der nicht mit Miguel Rios verwandte Waldo Rios engagierte Miguel Rios als Sänger. A Song of Joy wurde ein Welthit, in Deutschland hielt er sich fünfzehn Wochen lang auf Platz eins.[3]

Miguel Rios’ Nachfolgesingle war die Komposition Sonnenschein und Regenbogen von Ralph Siegel[4], diese verschwand jedoch nach vier Wochen aus der Hitparade.
