AHSS

Die Abkürzung AHSS steht für advanced high strength steel und bezeichnet moderne hochfeste unlegierte Stahlsorten (umgangssprachlich auch »Kohlenstoffstahl«, AHS-Stahl).

AHS-Stähle finden beispielsweise im Automobilbau Anwendung. Hier werden sie für sicherheitsrelevante Elemente zur Aufnahme von Verformungsenergie eingesetzt. Dadurch werden die Karosserien leichter und fester, was sowohl zur Gewichtseinsparung als auch zur Crashsicherheit beiträgt.

Zu den AHS–Stählen gehören beispielsweise Dualphasenstahl, Mehrphasenstahl, höchstfester Komplexphasenstahl und Bake-hardening-Stahl. Eine Besonderheit ist TRIP-Stahl (TRansformation Induced Plasticity, zu deutsch »umwandlungsbewirkte Plastizität«) und TWIP-Stahl (Twinning Induced Plasticity, zu deutsch »Zwillingsbildung induzierte Plastizität«). TRIP– und TWIP–Stähle ändern ihre Festigkeit bei Verformung.

AHS-Stähle zeichnen sich durch martensitische und bainitische Gefügeanteile aus, was hohe Festigkeit bei guter Formbarkeit bewirkt.
