Braniff International Airways war eine US-amerikanische Fluggesellschaft. Schwerpunkt des Flugliniengeschäftes waren Inlandsflüge sowie die Verbindung der USA mit Südamerika. Braniff wurde 1928 gegründet und stellte den Flugbetrieb zum 12. Mai 1982 aufgrund von Zahlungsunfähigkeit ein. Als Hauptgründe wurden steigende Kraftstoffpreise und der schärfere Wettbewerb genannt, der nach der Liberalisierung des amerikanischen Airlinemarkts aufkam. Andere sahen eine verfehlte Expansionspolitik des Unternehmens als Grund.

1984 übernahm die Hyatt Corporation die Rechte an der Marke und begann erneut als Fluggesellschaft unter dem Namen Braniff, innerhalb der USA Flugleistungen anzubieten. Doch bereits 1989 musste die Gesellschaft erneut den Flugdienst einstellen. Diesmal waren die Gründe eine unsolide Fremdkapitalversorgung sowie Missmanagement.
