Das Bhagavatapurana (Sanskrit, भागवतपुराण, Bhāgavata-Purāṇa, in etwa: „Das alte Buch von Gott“) ist ein Text des Hinduismus vishnuitischer Prägung.

In 18.000 Versen, die auf 12 „Bücher“ aufgeteilt sind, erzählt es Geschichten von Vishnu und seinen Avataras, von denen der bekannteste Krishna ist. Im 10. Buch werden die Kindheit und die Jugend Krishnas behandelt, der mit seinem Charme und seiner Schönheit die Hirtenmädchen (Gopis) seines Dorfes in seinen Bann zieht. Die ekstatische Liebe dieser Mädchen zu Krishna gilt als Symbol für Bhakti Yoga, die mystische Sehnsucht und Liebe der Seele nach Gott.

Das Bhagavatapurana ist eines der berühmtesten Puranas. Botschaft ist, dass Vishnu bzw. Krishna der höchste Gott sei. Vishnu wird auch als „Bhagavan“ angeredet, die Anhänger des Vishnu werden auch Bhagavatas genannt.
