Allgemeine Informationen Empfang Kurzwelle Sendegebiet weltweit Sendeanstalt ORF Intendant Alexander Wrabetz Sendestart 2003 Rechtsform Öffentlich-rechtlich Liste der Hörfunksender Radio Österreich 1 International (Ö1 International) ist ein weltweit über Kurzwelle empfangbarer österreichischer Radiosender. Nach Ende des Sendebetriebs von Radio Österreich International begann man, das Inlandsprogramm Ö1 weltweit über Kurzwelle auszustrahlen, allerdings in stark eingeschränkter Länge und Sendeleistung. Ein altes Programmelement blieb aber zunächst – verkürzt – erhalten, der englischsprachige „Report from Austria“. Er wurde zu verschiedenen Zeiten über Kurzwelle anstelle des Ö1-Programms ausgestrahlt, am 31. Dezember 2008 aber endgültig eingestellt.
Der Sendebetrieb wurde Schritt für Schritt drastisch eingeschränkt. Seit 1. Jänner 2010 ist in Europa nur noch ein Block mit dem Morgenjournal (mit Nachrichten in deutscher, englischer und französischer Sprache) zwischen 06:00 und 07:15 UTC auf 6155 kHz auf Sendung. Überseegebiete werden nur noch 30 Minuten pro Tag wahlweise mit dem Morgen- oder Abendjournal versorgt. Die permanente Kurzwellenpräsenz des ORF-Radios ist damit de facto beendet.
