Ximian

Ximian

Ximian war eine Firma, die Desktop-Anwendungen unter Open-Source-Lizenzen für Linux und UNIX anbot. Ximian (früher Helix Code) wurde von Miguel de Icaza und Nat Friedman im Oktober 1999 gegründet.

Die Firma wurde am 4. August 2003 von Novell übernommen.

Neben einer Version des GNOME-Desktops und Evolution leitet Ximian das Mono-Projekt, das eine Open-Source-Version des .NET-Frameworks von Microsoft produziert. Außerdem wird an einer speziellen OpenOffice.org-Version für GNOME gearbeitet.
