World Music Expo

Die WOrld Music EXpo (WOMEX) ist die weltgrößte Musikmesse für Welt-, Roots-, ethnische, traditionelle und lokale Musik und Folk. Die internationale Veranstaltung findet seit 1994 jährlich (bis auf 1996) in verschiedenen großen europäischen Städten statt. Jährlich kommen etwa 300 Aussteller aus über 80 Ländern, 2000 Fachbesucher und 400 Journalisten. Neben der Messe gibt es ein musikalisches Begleitprogramm und Konferenzen. 2006 gab der Gründer Christoph Borkowsky Akbar die Leitung der Messe an den Amerikaner Gerald Seligman ab.
