Mit Vaporetto werden die in Venedig und der Lagune Venedigs als öffentliches Verkehrsmittel genutzten Schiffe bezeichnet. Die ursprüngliche Bedeutung des Wortes lautet „Dampfschiffchen“, heute sind allerdings Schiffe mit Dieselmotoren in Betrieb. Betreiber der Vaporetti ist die Gesellschaft ACTV SpA (Azienda del consorzio trasporti veneziano), die sich mehrheitlich in Besitz der Stadt befindet.

Gebiet

Die Vaporetti fahren u. a. durch den Canal Grande, Venedigs Hauptwasserstraße, als auch zu den umliegenden Inseln wie Murano oder zum Lido. Kleinere Vaporetti, welche die Linien 51, 52, 41, 42, 61, 62 und DM bedienen, werden auch als Motoscafi bezeichnet.

Touristische Informationen

Eine einfache Fahrt über 60 Minuten kostet 6,50 Euro. Weiters gibt es noch Fahrkarten über 12 Stunden für 16 Euro, 24 Stunden für 18 Euro, 36 Stunden für 23 Euro, 48 Stunden für 28 Euro, 72 Stunden für 33 Euro und sieben Tage für 50 Euro. Größere Gepäckstücke benötigen eine zusätzliche Karte, wenn die Summe von Länge, Breite und Höhe des Gepäckstückes 150 Zentimeter übersteigt. Die 24- und 72-Stunden-Fahrscheine sowie die Sieben-Tage-Tickets berechtigen auch zur Nutzung der Busse auf dem Lido und des Stadtverkehrs von Venedig-Mestre, somit ist die Fahrt zum Flughafen (Buslinie 5) enthalten. Einige Linien (beispielsweise 3 und 4) fahren nicht alle Stationen an und sind deswegen bedeutend schneller.
