Die UNU (engl. United Nations University), auch Weltuniversität genannt, ist ein autonomes Nebenorgan der Vereinten Nationen. Sie wurde 1973 mit dem Ziel gegründet, Zukunftsfragen der Menschheit in allen Lebensbereichen auf konzentrierter wissenschaftlicher Basis zu erarbeiten. Sie hat ihren Hauptsitz in Shibuya (Präfektur Tokio) sowie drei Außenstellen in Paris, Bonn und New York.

Sie unterhält zahlreiche, weltweit vernetzte Forschungs- und Ausbildungszentren, z. B. für:

Von traditionellen Universitäten unterscheidet sie sich dadurch, dass sie weder über einen festen Lehrkörper verfügt, noch irgendwelche akademischen Grade verleiht. Vielmehr bildet sie eine internationale, interdisziplinäre Gemeinschaft von ausgebildeten Wissenschaftlern, die sich mit ihrer Forschung und Lehre den globalen Herausforderungen für eine sichere und lebenswerte Zukunft der Menschheit stellt.

Die UNU wird aus einem Stiftungsfonds der Mitgliedstaaten der Vereinten Nationen finanziert.
