Tütü

Das Tutu [tyty] ist ein Ballettkostüm. Es handelt sich um einen Rock aus mehreren Schichten Tüll.

Seit Marie Taglioni, die 1832 in La Sylphide zum ersten Mal darin auftrat, wurde es zum gebräuchlichen Kostüm einer Ballerina. Bis dahin hatten die Tänzerinnen Panniers (Reifröcke) oder klassisch einfache Kleidung getragen. Mit dem kürzeren und leichteren Tutu konnten sie höhere Sprünge ausführen und ihre Beine wurden sichtbar, was im 19. Jahrhundert noch höchst unmoralisch war.

Das romantische Tutu ist wadenlang, wie zum Beispiel in Giselle. Später wurde es immer kürzer, bis zum steif abstehenden Tüllrock, wie er in den meisten Schwanensee-Produktionen verwendet wird.

Heutzutage werden die leichten Tutus auch für Tänzer (Ballerinos) angeboten.
