Baron Auckland ist ein erblicher britischer Adelstitel, der von einem Zweig der Familie Eden geführt wird. Er wurde je einmal in der Peerage of Ireland und der Peerage of Great Britain geschaffen.

Verleihungen

Der Titel wurde erstmals im Jahre 1789 in der Peerage of Ireland für den Diplomaten William Eden geschaffen. Dieser war zuvor unter anderem Botschafter in Frankreich und den Niederlanden gewesen.

1793 wurde ihm außerdem der Titel eines Baron Auckland, of West Auckland in der Grafschaft Durham verliehen. Diese Baronie gehört zur Peerage of Great Britain und ermöglichte dem Baron, einen Sitz im House of Lords einzunehmen.

Weitere Titel

Der zweite Baron war ein bekannter Politiker und unter anderem Vizekönig von Indien. Er wurde 1839 zum Earl of Auckland und Baron Eden, of Norwood in der Grafschaft Surrey, erhoben. Beide Titel erloschen zehn Jahre später als der Earl unverheiratet verstarb.

Die Barone stehen ferner in der Erbfolge für die Eden Baronetcy of West Auckland, weil der erste Baron ein Sohn des dritten Baronets war. Dieser Titel wird zurzeit von dem konservativen Politiker John Eden, Baron Eden of Winton gehalten.
