Tristão da Cunha (* um 1460 in Lissabon; † um 1540) war ein portugiesischer Admiral.

Cunha war der erste Träger des Titels des Vizekönigs von Indien, den er von König Manuel I. erhielt. Cunha konnte aber aufgrund einer zeitweiligen Blindheit das Amt nicht antreten.

Seine wichtigste Reise unternahm er 1506, als er sich mit 15 Schiffen in Richtung Indien auf den Weg machte. Cunha entdeckte drei vulkanische Inseln im Südatlantik, von denen eine – Tristan da Cunha – nach ihm benannt wurde. Nachdem er den Arabern Sokotra in der Hoffnung abgenommen hatte, den Einfluss Portugals auf das Rote Meer zu vergrößern, segelte Cunha weiter nach Indien.

Nach seiner Rückkehr wurde Cunha Diplomat des Vatikans unter Papst Leo X. und später zum Mitglied des portugiesischen Geheimrates ernannt. Ein Sohn, Nuno da Cunha (1487–1539), wurde Gouverneur von Indien.
