TripAdvisor ist eine Internet-Reiseinformationsquelle, die dem Nutzer individuelle Erfahrungsberichte bietet, um den Urlaub zu planen. Die Site informiert über mehr als 270.000 Quartiere (Hotels, Pensionen, Bed and Breakfast) und Sehenswürdigkeiten an 30.000 Reisezielen weltweit. Geboten werden Erfahrungsberichte und Beurteilungen von Reisenden, Links zu Berichten aus Zeitungen, Zeitschriften und Reiseführern sowie Reiseforen (elektronische schwarze Bretter).

TripAdvisor wurde im Februar 2000 gegründet und 2004 von der InterActive Corporation erworben. Finanziert wurde die Gründung von Flagship Ventures, der Bollard Group und privaten Investoren.

Inzwischen ist TripAdvisor Teil des Reisekonzerns Expedia. Den Statistiken von ComScore/MediaMatrix zufolge erzielte die Site im November 2005 etwa 14 Millionen Besucher.

Zu den Anzeigenkunden von TripAdvisor gehören Online-Reiseagenturen wie Expedia, Hotels.com, Orbitz, Hotwire, Priceline und Travelocity oder InterContinental, Hyatt und American Airlines.
