Hochwertige Leggings

Leggings (von englisch leg „Bein“, legging „Gamasche“, leggings „Strampelhose“) oder auch Tights (englisch tight „eng“) bezeichnen in der Regel hauteng anliegende Hosen aus elastischem Material, die nicht nur als bequeme Alltagsbekleidung gebräuchlich sind, sondern sich für einige Sportarten als sehr nützlich erweisen (Gymnastik, Aerobic, Laufen, Radfahren, Body Building etc.), da sie die Bewegung kaum beeinträchtigen, den Körperbau für Zuschauer erkennbar lassen (und somit auch bei den geltenden gesellschaftlichen Normen eine Möglichkeit bieten, Leibesübungen in einer der Wortbedeutung von Gymnastik recht nahe kommenden Form auszuführen) und zudem Schweiß sofort aufnehmen und (je nach Material) nach außen abgeben können. Zur Optimierung für diesen Zweck werden für den Einsatz im Sportbereich Leggings häufig aus speziellen Funktionsmaterialien auf Lycra- oder Nylonbasis hergestellt und ohne Unterbekleidung direkt auf der Haut getragen.

Ansonsten können Leggings als Unter-, Ober- oder Zwischenhose getragen werden. Aufgrund der figurbetonenden Optik waren Leggings vor allem in den späten 1980er-Jahren als Damenbekleidung beliebt – oft in Verbindung mit Turnschuhen oder Basketball-Stiefeln, oder es wurden auch sehr gerne Nylonstrümpfe und hochhackige Pumps dazu getragen – und im Alltag sowohl als Freizeit- als auch als Geschäftsbekleidung akzeptiert. Für ein weniger figurbetonendes Outfit wurden Leggings oft zusammen mit langen Pullovern, T-Shirts oder Jacken getragen. Beliebt waren glänzende Leggings aus Lycra, häufig in leuchtend bunten Farben. Leggings mit kürzeren Beinlängen haben unterschiedliche Bezeichnungen:

  • Capri-Hose (Bein endet an der Wade)
  • Radlerhose (auch: „Radler“; Bein endet oberhalb des Knies)
  • Hot Pants (Höschen mit horizontalem Beinabschluss auf Schritthöhe)
