Handlung

Eustacia Vye zieht zu ihrem in dem Provinzort Egdon Heath lebenden Großvater. Bald ist es ihr dort langweilig. Sie heiratet den aus Paris gekommenen Juwelier Clym Yeobright und hofft, sie würde nach Paris ziehen. Yeobright will jedoch in Egdon Heath bleiben.

Eustacia geht eine Affäre mit Damon Wildeve ein.
