The National Archives (TNA) ist eine britische Behörde, die das Nationalarchiv für England, Wales und das Vereinigte Königreich unterhält. Schottland und Nordirland haben eigene Nationalarchive.

The National Archives behauptet von sich, die größte Archivsammlung der Welt zu besitzen, die über tausend Jahre britischer Geschichte deckt. Eines der berühmtesten Dokumente ist das Originalmanuskript des Domesday Book von 1086.

Der Hauptsitz liegt in Kew (London). Zusätzlich verwaltet das TNA das Family Records Centre in Islington. Beide sind für den Publikumsverkehr geöffnet.

Geschichte

TNA wurde im Jahr 2003 durch den Zusammenschluss von Public Record Office und Historical Manuscripts Commission gegründet.
