Der ewige Quell (Originaltitel: The Fountainhead) ist ein 1943 erstmals erschienener Roman von Ayn Rand. Der Titel wurde bislang (2008) zwei Mal ins Deutsche übersetzt: 1946 von Harry Kahn als Der ewige Quell (Neuauflage 1993 im Goldmann Verlag) und im Jahr 2000 durch Werner Habermehl als Der Ursprung (Gewis-Verlag).

Es war Rands zweiter Roman. Zwölf Verleger lehnten ihn ab, bis er von der Bobbs-Merrill Company 1943 herausgegeben wurde. In dem Buch stilisiert Rand ihr moralisches Menschenideal, verkörpert durch den Protagonisten Howard Roark. The Fountainhead wurde zwei Jahre nach der Veröffentlichung ein Bestseller. Eine Verfilmung verzögerte sich wegen des Zweiten Weltkrieges bis 1949. In den 1980er-Jahren benannte sich eine irische Rockband nach dem Roman.
