The Entertainer, erschienen 1902, ist einer der bekanntesten Rags von Scott Joplin für Klavier solo. Er folgt im Aufbau im Wesentlichen der für klassische auskomponierte Rags typischen Struktur Einleitung AA BB A CC DD und existiert, da es sich im Original um ein technisch anspruchsvolles Werk handelt, in etlichen vereinfachenden Bearbeitungen sowie in Arrangements für verschiedene Besetzungen. Er findet in einer für eine Jazz-Band bearbeiteten Fassung neben anderen Rags Joplins auch Verwendung als Filmmusik in Der Clou.
