Terlipressin ist ein synthetisches Analogon von Vasopressin. Es wird bei Komplikationen der Leberzirrhose eingesetzt, da es durch seine gefäßverengende Wirkung eine Erhöhung des systemischen Gefäßwiderstandes auslöst, wodurch sich der Pfortaderdruck und damit das Risiko der Ösophagusvarizenblutung vermindert. Es gibt zudem Hinweise, dass sein Einsatz auch beim septischen Schock oder nach Reanimationsbehandlung vorteilhaft sein kann.[1]
