Tavistock ist eine Kleinstadt am Tavy in Westen von Devon (England). Der Fluss war der Grund für die Namensgebung. Die Stadt hat eine Einwohnerzahl von ungefähr 11.000. Die Geschichte der Stadt beginnt um 961, als die Abtei Tavistock Abbey, deren Ruinen im heutigen Stadtzentrum liegen, gegründet wurde.

Der Megalithkomplex von Merrivale (auch Merivale) liegt im Dartmoor National Park nahe der B3357 bei Tavistock.
