808 State

808 State ist eine britische Elektronikband, die im Jahre 1988 in Radcliffe, Greater Manchester, gegründet wurde. Der Name der Band stammt vom Roland TR-808 Drumcomputer. 808 State gehören zu den einflussreichsten Musikgruppen des Manchester Rave. Zudem gelten sie als Wegbereiter des Acid House in Großbritannien. Die Band wurde von Graham Massey, Martin Price und Gerald Simpson (der auch als A Guy Called Gerald bekannt ist) ins Leben gerufen und veröffentlichte ihr Debütalbum Newbuild im Jahre 1988.
