Sludgecore

Sludge Metal (Deutsch: etwa Matsch Metal [1]) ist ein Musiksubgenre, auch Sludge oder Sludgecore genannt, das sich aus diversen Anleihen des Hardcore Punk, Doom Metal und Stoner Rock zusammensetzt.[2][3][4]

Bei einigen Bands dieses Genres sind darüber hinaus auch Einflüsse von Blues zu hören, wie es vom Southern Rock bekannt ist. Insgesamt ist die Musik eher schleppend und zäh, mit besonderer Hervorhebung der Gitarrenriffs.[3][4] Der Gesang besteht aus Hardcore-artigem Geschrei und Gekeife, aber auch Death-Metal-typische Growls sind nicht unüblich.[3]

Inhaltlich reichen die Texte von sozialkritischen und politischen Themen bis hin zu fantastischen und persönlichen Inhalten. Auch der Marihuana-Konsum ist ein beliebtes Thema in einigen Sludge-Bands. Ungleich dem Stoner Rock ist die Stimmung im Sludgecore eher von Pessimismus, Misanthropie und Nihilismus geprägt.
