Bafoussam ist die Hauptstadt der kamerunischen Westregion, in den Bamboutos Mountains.

Die Stadt hat 242.000 Einwohner (Stand 2001) und ist das Handelszentrum der Region. In ihr werden Kaffee, Tabak und Tee angebaut.

Die Stadt hat eine Kaffeefakultät und eine Brauerei. Außerdem ist es die Heimat der Bamiléké und Sitz des Häuptlings des Départements Mifi.

Bafoussam ist Sitz des Bistums Bafoussam.
