Schmidt-Rubin ist die Bezeichnung für ein Gewehrsystem der Schweizer Armee.

Das Infanteriegewehr 1889 des Schweizer Konstrukteurs Rudolf Schmidt löste 1889 das Vorgängersystem Vetterli ab. Die dazugehörige Patrone 7.5 × 53,5 (GP90) und 7.5 × 55 Swiss (GP11) entwickelte Eduard Rubin. So kam die Bezeichnung Schmidt-Rubin zustande. Das hervorstechendste Merkmal dieses Gewehrtyps ist der Geradezugverschluss, der ähnlich dem System Mannlicher das Nachladen mit einer zwar kräftigen, aber schnellen Zug-Stoss-Bewegung ermöglicht.
