Das Savoy Theatre wurde von Richard D'Oyly Carte auf dem Platz des alten Savoy Palace in London erbaut und am 10. Oktober 1881 eröffnet. Es war das erste elektrisch beleuchtete Theatergebäude.

Das Theater galt zuerst als Wirkstätte für Arthur Sullivan und William Schwenck Gilbert, ihre Werke sind heute deshalb als die Savoy Operas bekannt.

Einige Jahre danach wurde das Savoy Hotel direkt neben dem Theater errichtet.

Aktuelle Bespielung

Seit dem 13. Januar 2010 wir die Musicalversion der Filmkomödie Legally Blonde aufgeführt.
