Eine Rototom ist eine Trommel ohne Kessel. Sie besteht aus einem drehbaren Spannreifen aus Metall, der ein einzelnes Fell spannt, wobei man durch einfaches Drehen dieses Spannreifens die Fellspannung verändern kann. Gespielt wird die Rototom mit Stöcken.

Wegen des fehlenden Kessels klingt eine Rototom reiner und leiser als eine normale Tom Tom, weshalb sie meist ergänzend in Form eines Dreiersets zu einem bestehenden Schlagzeugset verwendet wird. Schlagzeugsets, die nur aus Rototoms bestehen, sind selten.
