Robert Kidston

Robert Kidston (* 29. Juni 1852 in Renfrew, Schottland; † 13. Juli 1924 in Gilfach Goch, Glamorganshire, Wales) war ein schottischer Botaniker. Sein offizielles botanisches Autorenkürzel lautet „Kidst.“.

Leben und Wirken

Seine wissenschaftliche Ausbildung erhielt Kidston in Edinburgh.

Er widmete sich den Pflanzen aus dem Devon, einem Erdzeitalter vor 408 bis 360 Millionen Jahren. Er entdeckte viele fossile Pflanzen aus diesem Erdzeitalter.

Kidston wurde 1902 zum Mitglied der Royal Society erwählt. 1916 bekam er die Murchison Medal der Geological Society of London verliehen.
