Sir Robert Abercromby G.C.B. (gelegentlich auch Abercrombie; * 21. Oktober 1740 in Clackmannanshire; † 3. November 1827 in Airthrey) war ein britischer General.

Robert Abercromby, ein jüngerer Bruder des Generals Sir Ralph Abercromby, kämpfte im Indianer- und Franzosenkrieg und im Amerikanischen Unabhängigkeitskrieg, wurde 1790 Generalmajor und war dann von Oktober 1793 bis Januar 1797 Gouverneur von Bombay und Oberbefehlshaber der britischen Armee in Indien. 1798 wurde er für Clackmannanshire ins Parlament gewählt und war von 1801 an Gouverneur von Edinburgh Castle.

Als der ehemalige Marineoffizier Robert Haldane (1764–1842) - dessen jüngerer Bruder James Alexander Haldane Abercrombys Nichte Mary Joass geheiratet hatte - sich 1798 entschied, seine Besitztümer zu verkaufen, um sich der Verbreitung des christlichen Glaubens zu widmen, erwarb Abercromby dessen Anwesen Airthrey Castle, ein 1791 von Robert Adam erbautes romantisches Schloss bei Stirling in Schottland. Es dient heute als Verwaltungsgebäude der dortigen Universität.
