Richard Taylor (* in Neuseeland) ist Mitbegründer und Leiter der neuseeländischen Spezialeffektfirma Weta Workshop. Er war unter anderem an den Filmen der Herr-der-Ringe-Trilogie sowie diversen weiteren Filmen von Peter Jackson beteiligt.

Taylor ist mit seiner Kollegin Tania Rodger liiert, die beiden kennen sich seit der Schulzeit.

Preise

Taylor hat zahlreiche Preise sowie mehrere Nominierungen erhalten. So wurden Taylor zwei Oscars für „beste visuelle Effekte“ verliehen.[1]

Außerdem wurde er dreimal von der British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) ausgezeichnet.

  • 2004 für „Makeup“ zusammen mit Peter King und für „Kostüme“ (Costume Design) zusammen mit Ngila Dickson für Der Herr der Ringe: Die Rückkehr des Königs[2] und
  • 2006 für „bedeutende Leistungen in visuellen Spezialeffekten“ (Achievement in Special Visual Effects) zusammen mit Jim Rygiel, Randall William Cook und Mark Stetson für King Kong.[3]
