Rayl

Rayl
Einheit
Norm cgs-Einheitensystem
Einheitenname Rayl
Einheitenzeichen Rayl, rayl, \mathrm{CGS~rayl}, \mathrm{MKS~rayl}
Dimensionsname Schallkennimpedanz
Dimensionssymbol ZF
In SI-Einheiten 1\,\mathrm{Rayl}_\mathrm{CGS} = 10\,\frac{\mathrm{Pa\, s}}{\mathrm{m}}
Benannt nach Lord Rayleigh

Das Rayl (benannt nach dem englischen Physiker Lord Rayleigh)[1] ist eine veraltete und ungesetzliche Einheit der spezifischen Schallkennimpedanz. Dabei gibt es zwei unterschiedliche Definitionen, die sich um eine Größenordnung unterscheiden:[2]

  1. Im CGS-Einheitensystem:[3][4]
    1\ \mathrm{CGS~Rayl} = 10\ {\mathrm{kg}\over \mathrm{m^2\ s}} = 1\ {\mathrm{g}\over \mathrm{cm^2\ s}} = 10\ {\mathrm{Pa\ s}\over \mathrm{m}}
  2. Im MKS-Einheitensystem:
    1\ \mathrm{MKS~Rayl} = 1\ {\mathrm{kg}\over \mathrm{m^2\ s}} = 0{,}1\ {\mathrm{g}\over \mathrm{cm^2\ s}} = 1\ {\mathrm{Pa\ s}\over \mathrm{m}}
