Die Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec (kurz: LHJMQ, engl. Québec Major Junior Hockey League, kurz QMJHL), ist eine der drei kanadischen Top-Juniorenligen, die die Canadian Hockey League bilden. Sie ist in der Provinz Québec beheimatete.

Organisation

Neben der Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec existieren in der Canadian Hockey League die OHL und die WHL. Aufgrund ihres umständlichen Namens wird sie auch oft The Q genannt. Die Liga kehrt mit der Saison 2005/06 zu dem traditionellen Format zurück, bei dem alle Teams in zwei Divisionen aufgeteilt sind (Division Est und Division Ouest).

In der LHJMQ dürfen nur Spieler zwischen 15 und 20 Jahren spielen. Jedes Team hat jedoch die Möglichkeit, drei Spieler einzusetzen, welche beim Saisonstart bereits 20 Jahre alt sind. Diese werden als "Overage" Junioren bezeichnet.

Besonders hervorzuheben ist, dass die meisten Torhüter, die den Sprung in die NHL schaffen, aus der Provinz Québec kommen und vorher auch meist in der lokalen LHJMQ spielten. Die LHJMQ brachte schon Stars wie Mario Lemieux, Patrick Roy oder Martin Brodeur hervor.

Insgesamt gelang es fünf Teams der LHJMQ, den Memorial Cup, die offizielle kanadische Juniorenmeisterschaft, zu gewinnen, den Remparts de Québec (1971, 2006), den Cornwall Royals (1972, 1980, 1981), den Prédateurs de Granby (1996), den Olympiques de Hull (1997) und L'Océanic de Rimouski (2000).
