Point Blank ist ein Kriminalfilm aus dem Jahr 1967 von John Boorman mit Lee Marvin in der Hauptrolle. Es ist eine Verfilmung des Krimis Jetzt sind wir quitt (The Hunter) von Donald E. Westlake, der unter dem Pseudonym Richard Stark veröffentlicht wurde.

Der Begriff Point Blank bezeichnet das Abfeuern einer Waffe aus nächster Nähe.

Handlung

Ein Mann namens Walker (von dem niemand den Vornamen kennt) wird von seinem Komplizen und seiner eigenen Ehefrau bei einem Raubzug angeschossen und um die Beute betrogen. Zielstrebig verfolgt er sein Ziel sich zu rächen und sein Geld wiederzubeschaffen. Sein Komplize ist durch das Geld in einer Verbrecherorganisation, die nur „die Organisation“ genannt wird, aufgestiegen. Dennoch gelingt es Walker, ihn zu töten. Nun will er sein Geld von der Organisation.

Kritik

Lexikon des Internationalen Films: Meisterhaft und mit eisiger Kälte inszenierter Thriller von konsequent pessimistischer Grundhaltung.[1] Der Film kam zunächst bei den Kritikern nicht allzu gut an. Nicht zuletzt dank der Kombination aus amerikanischen Schauplätzen und Schauspielern und den europäischen Einflüssen der Nouvelle Vague, psychologischen Themen, komplexen Rückblenden, schnellen Rhythmuswechseln und Soundeffekten gilt er jedoch mittlerweile als Klassiker.
