Der Musculus palmaris longus (lat.: „langer Hohlhandmuskel“) ist ein oberflächlicher Muskel auf der Vorderseite des Unterarms. Der schlanke Muskel setzt in der Aponeurosis palmaris an, einem Sehnenblatt unter der Haut der Handfläche. Bei den Haustieren ist der Muskel nicht ausgebildet.

Der Musculus palmaris longus ist beteiligt an der Beugung des Handgelenks, außerdem spannt er die Aponeurosis palmaris.

Der Muskel kann auch beim Menschen vollständig fehlen, die Aponeurosis palmaris ist trotzdem immer vorhanden. In diesem Falle lässt sich eine relative Vergrößerung des Musculus palmaris brevis beobachten. Ist der Muskel nicht vorhanden, kann die Sehne zum Zweck einer Transplantation entfernt werden.

Der Muskel ist der oberflächlichste aller Beuger im Handgelenk, wodurch seine Sehne (insofern vorhanden) bei einer Beugung der geschlossenen Hand (Faustschluss) sehr prominent in der Mitte des Handgelenks sichtbar wird.
