Pachakuti

Der Begriff Pachakuti oder Pachakutiy hat mehrere Bedeutungen:

  • Er bedeutet in der Quechua-Sprache "Zeitenwende". In der andinen Weltsicht ist dies ein wichtiger Begriff, der den Wechsel von einem Zeitalter zum nächsten bezeichnet.

Der Begriff wird auch von verschiedenen politischen Organisationen Südamerikas, meist mit ethnischem Quechua-Hintergrund, verwendet:

  • Movimiento Indígena Pachakuti, eine indianische Partei in Bolivien
  • Movimiento de Unidad Plurinacional Pachakutik, eine indianische Partei in Ecuador, die mit der indianischen Dachorganisation Ecuadors CONAIE verbündet ist
  • Auf Grund der Zeitenwende, als welche der Sieg der Inkas über die Chankas gesehen wurde, erhielt der damalige Inka-Herrscher den Titel Pachakutiq Yupanki.
