Okker

Tom Okker (* 22. Februar 1944 in Amsterdam; Spitzname The Flying Dutchman) ist ein ehemaliger niederländischer Tennisspieler. Von 1964 bis 1968 wurde er fünfmal in Folge niederländischer Meister. Im Anschluss an seine Erfolge als Amateur schloss sich Okker 1968 dem Profi-Tennis an.

1968 erreichte er beim Tennisturnier von Wimbledon das Viertelfinale. Im gleichen Jahr stand er bei den US Open im Finale, unterlag dort aber dem US-Amerikaner Arthur Ashe.

Seine höchste Platzierung in der Tennis-Weltrangliste erreichte Okker 1969, als er hinter dem Australier Rod Laver und dem Amerikaner Arthur Ashe Platz drei belegte. Insgesamt hielt er sich sieben Jahre lang in den Top Ten.

1978 erreichte er noch einmal das Halbfinale in Wimbledon.

In seiner Karriere gewann Okker insgesamt 22 Turniere im Einzel und 69 im Doppel.
