OFlag VII-A

In der Zeit des Deutschen Reichs 1933 bis 1945 wurde in Murnau erstmals eine Gebirgsjägergarnison errichtet. Im Zweiten Weltkrieg wurden durch die Wehrmacht in der Werdenfelser Kaserne als Kriegsgefangenenlager (Oflag VII-A) polnische Offiziere und Generäle von 1939 bis 1945 inhaftiert. Schließlich gab es dort etwa 5.000 Gefangene.
