Neil R. Jones

Neil Ronald Jones (* 29. Mai 1909 in Fulton, New York; † 15. Februar 1988) war ein US-amerikanischer Science-Fiction Autor.

Jones veröffentlichte ausschließlich Kurzgeschichten in sogenannten Pulp-Magazinen. Seine Geschichten um Professor Jameson gelten als die erste SF-Serie. Im Jahr 1930 veröffentlichte er seine erste Kurzgeschichte The Death's Head Meteor im Magazin Air Wonder Stories. In dieser Geschichte wurde zum ersten Mal in einer SF-Story das Wort „Astronaut“ verwendet.

Jones' Stories, fast ausschließlich Space Operas, gehören drei Serien an: „Tales of the 24th century“, „Tales of the 26th century“ und „Professor Jameson“. Neil R. Jones war zweimal verheiratet und nahm als Soldat am Zweiten Weltkrieg teil. Jones war bis zu seiner Pensionierung Versicherungsangestellter des Staates New York.
